Grandma Series Guide: You having troubles organizing your Brazilian definitives from the Grandmother Series? Me too. Reason I have been trying to come up with some guidelines not to get nuts whenever I got a new bunch in front of me! Write me to get one. Don't now what I am talking about? Click here.
"Philately: the collection and study of postal and imprinted stamps" (Oxford Dictionary).
Quite a simplistic definition for such a complex hobby.
There may be not a specific date for when philately started, and although one may suggest 'when the first stamp appeared, in 1840', the pre-postal period also present good collectibles. The first albums were published around the 1860s, and since then philately evolved to being the world's most popular hobbies.
I created this website as it makes me research more on the topic, post interesting findings and background information that allows me to go deeper in collecting. I hope also to learn and get inputs from more experienced collectors while maybe share a bit with new ones. For this reason, please do not hesitate sending me comments, suggestions and eventual corrections to my posts.
Please note BM Stamps has 2 Blogs. One will be used for general philatelic discussions, discourses about collecting and specific sets, findings or researches I do when working on my collection - thus the broad name 'Collecting Blog'. The second, "First Issues Blog" shall be about my topical research on the first stamps issued by every country, territory or district. This is a work in progress, and some words about each new addition to my collection shall be posted.
I hope you enjoy!
